The Role of Cytokines in Inflammatory Skin Conditions that Result in Scarring
The University of Michigan’s Medical School, Department of Dermatology, is conducting a research program to study a wide array of skin problems, from psoriasis and atopic dermatitis to acne vulgaris and hidradenitis suppurativa. Certain conditions, like psoriasis and atopic dermatitis, can resolve without scarring, whereas conditions like acne vulgaris and hidradenitis suppurativa, can resolve with scarring. The nature of the study deals with the procurement of human skin samples which may be obtained by punch biopsy from disease-involved and uninvolved areas in persons with various inflammatory skin conditions.
